Jemma

Terms of Service

Last updated April 30, 2026

These are the terms that govern your use of Jemma (“we,” “us,” “the platform”). By creating an account or otherwise using Jemma, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the platform.

We'll keep this short and concrete. Where a section affects your money, your data, or your rights, we've called it out.

1. Who can use Jemma

Jemma is built for working nurses (RN, LPN, NP, CRNA, CNM, CNA) and nursing students enrolled in an accredited program in the United States. You must be at least 18 years old. You agree to provide accurate information about your license, employment, and student status.

Submitting false license or employment information — whether to access verified-only features, qualify referrals, or distort aggregate data — is a material breach of these terms and grounds for immediate account termination without refund.

2. Accounts and verification

You create an account using your email (magic link) or by signing in with Google. Each person may hold one nurse account. Sharing an account, automating account creation, or operating multiple accounts to game referrals or pricing tiers is prohibited.

To unlock verified features (full Salary Explorer, Pro plan eligibility), nurses must complete two gates:

  • Identity gate. Provide your nursing license number and the state it was issued in (or your Nurse Aide Registry number, for CNAs). We validate the format and queue the credential for verification.
  • Data gate. Upload a recent pay stub. We use automated tools to extract salary fields from the document and cross-check them against what you self-reported. Outliers and mismatches are flagged for human review.

Students verify via .edu email or by uploading an enrollment document (acceptance letter, current transcript, school ID).

3. Subscription plans and pricing

Free

Anyone can create a free account. The free tier includes calculators, aggregate Salary Explorer access, the Pay Equity tool, the Honest Debt Club tracker (for verified nurses and students), and the referral program.

Pro (verified nurses only)

Pro requires a verified salary submission. Pricing is locked for the life of your subscription as long as you remain in good standing:

  • Founding member — $29/year. The first 1,000 verified nurses to subscribe.
  • Early adopter — $39/year. Verified nurses 1,001 through 5,000.
  • Full price — $59/year. Verified nurses after 5,000.

Your locked rate persists across renewals. If your subscription lapses for more than 60 days, you re-enter at the current public tier when you resubscribe.

Student plan — $19/year

Available to verified students. Includes student dashboard, aggregate salary stats by specialty/metro/experience, Loan Repayment Planner with saved state, First Job Prep features, and the Honest Debt Club. Does not include the Negotiation Toolkit or Career Chapters (those are Pro-only).

4. Billing, renewals, refunds

Paid plans are billed annually. We use Stripe for payment processing and never see or store your card number directly. Subscriptions renew automatically each year at your locked rate; we send a renewal-reminder email 7 days before each charge.

You can cancel any time from your account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access through the end of your current paid period.

Refund policy: we offer a full refund within 14 days of any new subscription if you're not satisfied, no questions asked. Partial-year prorated refunds are available on a case-by-case basis; email billing@nursejemma.com.

5. Referral program

Refer a nurse or student who signs up using your referral code and pays for a Jemma subscription, and you earn a commission. The current rates:

  • Pro referrals. $10 per referral (Credit tier); volume tiers of $15 / $20 / $25 unlock at 11+, 51+, and 101+ lifetime Pro referrals respectively.
  • Student referrals. $5 per referral.
  • Milestone bonuses. 25 paid referrals earns $50; 50 earns $150; 100 earns $500. Milestones count combined Student + Pro referrals.

Payouts under 11 lifetime referrals come as Stripe credit applied to your subscription. From referral 11 onward, payouts are issued via PayPal to an email you provide. Referees also receive a first-year discount: $10 off Pro, $5 off Student.

When a referral qualifies

A referral qualifies when all of the following are true:

  1. The referee signed up using your referral code.
  2. The referee's first paid Pro or Student Plan subscription charge cleared in our payment processor.
  3. A 45-day refund-protection holding period passes without a refund being issued for that charge.

Verification (license + pay stub for Pro; .edu email or enrollment document for Student) is a prerequisite to checkout — you can't subscribe to Pro without a verified salary submission, and you can't subscribe to the Student Plan without verified student status. A successful payment therefore confirms a verified referee.

If a referee signs up using your code but never subscribes, no commission is earned — but the attribution stays linked to your code indefinitely. If they later subscribe at any point in the future, the commission triggers at that time, at the rates in effect on the date of their first paid charge.

Refunds and clawbacks

Refunds issued during the 45-day refund-protection holding period void the related commission — the commission never leaves holding. Refunds issued after the holding period do not result in clawbacks; commissions already paid out remain yours. Cancellation of a referee's subscription within their paid period (without a refund) does not affect a Year 1 commission you have already earned; it only stops future renewal commissions for that referral.

Fraud and disqualification

We do not credit referrals for self-referrals, fake accounts, or accounts we can't verify. Suspected referral fraud results in forfeiture of pending commissions and may result in account termination.

Tax reporting on referral commissions

Cash payouts (referral tier 11 and above) are taxable income. If your cumulative cash payouts in a calendar year reach the federal 1099-NEC reporting threshold ($2,000 for tax year 2026 under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, indexed for inflation thereafter), we'll collect a Form W-9 from you before issuing further payouts and report your earnings on Form 1099-NEC. Some states (for example, Massachusetts) maintain lower reporting thresholds; we comply with applicable state thresholds as well. Stripe customer balance credits earned through tier 1–10 referrals are treated as discounts on your subsequent Jemma subscription purchase and are not separately reportable to you, but consult your tax advisor regarding your individual circumstances.

6. Acceptable use

Don't do any of the following:

  • Submit false salary data, fake pay stubs, or impersonate another nurse.
  • Scrape, mirror, or republish our aggregate salary data without written permission.
  • Use the platform to harass, threaten, or expose private information about co-workers or employers.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer our verification systems, bypass rate limits, or test the platform's security without authorization (responsible disclosure to security@nursejemma.com is welcomed).
  • Use the AI features (pay stub vision, voice extraction, career insights) for purposes unrelated to building your own career record.
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit any feature of the platform without a separate written agreement with us.

7. Your content, our content

You retain ownership of everything you submit — salary submissions, career chapters, photos, voice recordings, debt tracker entries, saved tool inputs. By submitting, you grant Jemma a non-exclusive license to host, process, and display your content as required to provide the service. Verified salary submissions are aggregated and may be displayed in anonymized form to other users; see the Privacy Policy for thresholds and controls.

The platform itself — the codebase, the design, the brand, the aggregated insights and tools we build on top of submitted data — belongs to Jemma. You may use the platform for your personal career development; you may not resell, mirror, or rebrand it.

8. Disclaimers

Jemma is a tool, not financial, legal, tax, or career advice. Salary data is provided as-is from nurse self-reports verified through pay stub cross-checks. Calculators (cost of living, tax estimates, debt payoff projections, offer compare) use simplified models and current public data; they will not match your actual outcome dollar-for-dollar.

AI-generated content (career insights, voice transcript drafts, negotiation suggestions) is generated by third-party language models based on the inputs you provide. We don't guarantee accuracy. Always review AI suggestions before relying on them, particularly for salary numbers, dates, or anything you'd sign your name to.

The platform is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Jemma is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill arising out of your use of the platform. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) $100.

10. Termination

You can close your account at any time from account settings or by emailing hello@nursejemma.com. Account closure deletes your private data per the retention rules in the Privacy Policy.

We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without refund where misuse caused the termination. We'll email you when this happens and explain why.

11. Changes to these terms

When these terms change materially, we'll email registered users and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of Jemma after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you don't accept, close your account.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of these terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Denver County, Colorado, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
